            Legian Beach Attractions

What to See in Legian Beach

Located between the famous surfing Mecca of Kuta, and the middle-upper class hangouts of Seminyak, Legian is a recreational place where one can shop, swim or go to a spa. Legian is one of the famous beaches in Bali along with Double Six (Blue Ocean) Beach just north of Legian.

Since it has fewer crowds and lower tides, Legian is the perfect place to relax. If you’re looking for a place to stay with a limited budget, Legian is the perfect option in spite of its strategic location and is perhaps less chaotic than neighbouring Kuta, yet still lends a party atmosphere because some of Bali's hippest bars and lounges happen to be located here.

            Ground Zero Memorial

The Ground Zero monument sits on the border of Kuta and Legian, built as a permanent site and tribute to the fallen victims of the 2002 Legion bombing. It takes over the site of the destroyed Paddy's Pub that once stood famous on the main Legian road. The bar was reborn further down along Jalan Legian, named ‘Paddy's: Reloaded’ and continues to attract partygoers to the new venue that is open on all four sides, with a high roof and hard tiled floors, giving it a light and airy feel.

The Ground Zero memorial is made of intricately carved sandstone, set with a large marble plaque bearing the names and nationalities of the victims. The monument is well maintained by the local government and is illuminated at night. A memorial ceremony takes place every year on October 12 to honour the victims, hosted jointly by the Indonesian and Australian governments.
